For the first time since the 2012-13 season, the Oahe Capitals have knocked off the Aberdeen Cougars with a 6-5 overtime win on Saturday night on the road.
Brylee Kafka would score five goals which included the overtime winner as the first of the night was her 100th career goal making her only the third Capital in history to score 100 goals in a career. She joins Liz Knutson who scored 132 and Amy Gilkerson who had 117. Ava Lavinger would score the first goal of the game with around eight minutes remaining in the first before Kafka scored to make it a 2-0 lead. Aberdeen cut it to 2-1, but Kafka scored a final minute goal to take a 3-1 lead at the end of one. Aberdeen would score both goals in the second to tie the game at three heading into the third where Kafka would score both goals each giving the Caps the lead back before a final minute goal was scored with the goalie pulled to tie the game at 5-5. In overtime, Lavinger would win the face off and Kafka’s first shot was stopped, but both Lavinger and Mallory Lehrkamp were both keeping the puck alive before it squeaked out to the side where Kafka grabbed it and tucked in for the game winner and givng Oahe its tenth win of the season at now 10-3. Aberdeen falls for the seventh straight time and are 9-5-0-2. Sophia Peschong would make 38 saves on 43 shots.
