Capital Boys Come Back, Survive in Huron

The Oahe Capitals boys team needs win and will take them any way they can get them. On Saturday, Oahe came back down 2-0 to beat the Huron All Stars 3-2 on the road.

Oahe is trying to keep pace in the top eight of the standings to qualify for the state tournament, but found themselves down a 2-0 hole after the first period. Ian Schweitzer and Asher Vanden Bos would each score in the second to tie the game at two. In the third period, Huron would get two different major penalties called against them and another 10 minute misconduct penalty. Oahe would take advantage of one of the five power plays in the third as Dylan Dodson would get the game winning goal with under five minutes remaining in the third. Jaxon Jungwirth made eight saves on 10 shots, but the Caps limited Huron just one shot on goal in each of the second and third periods.

Oahe improves to 6-8 on the season while Huron drops to 1-12-0-1. The Caps will have a big game on Saturday against the Mitchell Marlins who are just one point behind them in the standings. It’s also Pink the Rink on Saturday. Puck drop is at 8:00 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
