The Stanley County Buffalo boys team would survive a scare in Gettysburg on Friday but the winning streak would come to an end being swept in the doubleheader with Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on Saturday on the road.
Stanley County would beat Potter County 51-48 on Friday as Kaden Montana had 22 points to lead the Buffs in a game which Potter County kept the Buffaloes close and had them on the ropes. Paxton Deal had 12 and Eddie Duffy had 10 for Stanley County. Potter County finished with a game high 23 points from Landon Larson. The battlers drop to 4-8 on the season.
On Saturday, the Lady Buffs would get a strong offensive output but fall 58-41 to Cheyenne Eagle-Butte as Stanley County continues to improve its offense. Kayen Magee had the team high 11 points for Stanley County while six different players scored for the Lady Buffs. However, Stanley drops to 1-12 and have lost 12 straight.
The Buffaloe boys would have its nine game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 61-48 loss to the Braves. Stanley County played from behind the entire way and each time the Buffs pulled within a couple of possessions, the Braves would find shots to fall and extend the lead back out keeping the Buffaloes at bay. Duffy had the game high 20 points although held scoreless in the first quarter. He finished with 12 points in the third on four threes. Montana finished with 13 for Stanley County who is now 10-2 on the season.
Both Buffalo teams will play on Tuesday as the Lady Buffs host Gregory and the boys travel to Onida to face the Sully Buttes Chargers. The boys game will be on the air on Country 95.3, pierrecountry.com and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports with DT Meyer on the call.
