Both Pierre Governor teams on Thursday would fall to a tough Brandon Valley squad as the girls would fall 59-43 while the boys would drop a 68-57 decision.
The girls team came up just a little bit short against the Lynx despite a great showing and a tight contest. Both teams were limited on offense to start before the game started to shift going into the second quarter. Pierre was led by Emery Larson who had 14 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. This led to a two point lead for the Lynx at the half.
Pierre then took over the game in the 3rd quarter behind tough physical play from Lennix Dupris and Grace Richter. Their 2-way play allowed Pierre to take a two point lead going into the final quarter of action. The fourth Quarter unquestionably belonged to Brandon Valley as they took over the game, outsourcing Pierre by 18 points in the final 8 minutes. The Lynx captured their 9th straight win and are 9-1.
The Governors also were helped by Dupris and her 13 points in the game. Brandon Valley’s player of the game was Gracie Salter who dominated in the post on her way to 20 points, which led all players.
For the Governor boys, Pierre had to battle back against the Lynx with a 14 point deficit in the second quarter and trailed 39-32 at the half. Pierre pulled within three late in the game, but the Lynx were too much in the end. Brandon Valley was led by Austin Dowd’s 16 points while Landon Dulaney and Aiden Zerr with 11. Dawson Getz had the game high 19 points for the Govs while Luke Olson had 13 and Corde Austin had 11. Pierre drops to 3-6 while Brandon Valley improves to 8-1.
Next up for the Governors will be the boys once again traveling to Aberdeen Central on Tuesday while the girls will be at home against the Golden Eagles. You can hear the boys game on KCCR with Dylan Simmons on the call and the girls game on Capital City Rock with Jon Winkler on the call.
