Gettysburg Seeking State Help For Airport Project

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Aeronautics Commission reviewed proposed airport projects for 2025 using Airport Improvement grant or Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding. One item that raised a question was a project at the Gettysburg Municipal Airport. Gettysburg is seeking an A-I-P grant for a revenue generating hangar, wetlands delineation and cultural study. Commissioner Bob Huggins questions the inclusion of the hangar in the request…

Commissioner Gerald Rieber says Gettysburg should consider having the entire airport examined for the wetlands and cultural issues. John Becker with the Department of Transportation says they could pare it out…

Brooke Edgar with Helms and Associates says the airport intends to do just that…

Gettysburg is also seeking a BIL grant for building improvements. Other cities with projects on the list include Chamberlain, Eagle Butte, Faith, Faulkton, Highmore, Miller, Murdo, Philip, Pierre and Presho.
