Oahe Capitals Girls Travel to Mitchell, Boys to Aberdeen

The Oahe Capitals boys and girls varsity teams will each get a game this weekend as the girls travel to Mitchell on Saturday and the boys to Aberdeen on Sunday.

The Capital girls will have a big matchup against a team trying to stay around the .500 mark in Mitchell. The Marlins lost its top goal scorer in Brynlee Sabers, who led the league in goals the last couple of years, but has since moved out east to continue her hockey career. Mitchell has a one goal loss to Aberdeen and had Sioux Falls tied 3-3 in the third period, before dropping a 6-3 decision in its latest game. The Marlins are led in scoring by Reese Amick with 17 goals. Oahe’s Brylee Kafka leads the league with 20.

The boys will travel to Aberdeen for a big game on Sunday. The Caps are looking to get back .500 after falling in both games Saturday and Sunday. Oahe is now 4-5 on the season and face the 5-4-0-1 Cougars. Aberdeen will face Brookings on Saturday, but it will be the first two games of the new year. Aberdeen is responsible for the lone Sioux Falls West loss. The Cougars have established themselves as one of the top teams in the state, but does have an overtime loss to Mitchell. Devon Fischbach leads the team with seven goals. Dylan Dodson has a team leading 10 goals for the Caps.
