PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission is holding its first meeting of 2025 tonight. The Commission will consider approval of a three-item consent calendar containing minutes, claims and a new hire for emergency communications before new business items. The Commission will consider a request to have alcohol at the South Dakota Discovery Center and 2024 utility Bright Energy Solution rebates. Commissioners will consider a request to bid for construction of Landfill Cell Four and a change order and final payment on 2024 street paving projects. The Commission will also designate an official newspaper and depositories and will consider a 2025 combined election agreement with Hughes County and the Pierre School District. That action will set a city/school board election date of June 3rd. Commissioners will end the meeting by presenting any dialogue they may have. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building at 5:30 pm. The meeting is open to the community.
