The Oahe Capitals boys team would drop both games this weekend to the Sioux Falls Flyers East and West teams with East winning 6-2 on Saturday and West 3-2 on Sunday.
The Capitals gave up two goals in each of the three periods on Saturday as East had three power play goals in the win. Dylan Dodson had a power play in the second and Cooper Beastrom scored his first varsity goal in the third. Jaxon Jungwirth made 32 saves in net.
Then on Sunday, Oahe’s Camron Lee tied the game at 1-1 through a period against West and Asher Vanden Bos put the Caps ahead 2-1 midway through the second. However, Channing Schaff and Alex Chan each scored late in the second to squeak a 3-2 lead into the intermission and eventually picked up the win over the Caps to improve to 8-1 on the season. Oahe drops to 4-5 after its four game winning streak was snapped. Jungwirth made 24 saves on 27 shots.
Oahe will have just one game next weekend, on Sunday against the Aberdeen Cougars on the road. Coverage will start around 2:40 with a 3:00 puck drop on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
