Fort Pierre City Council Votes To Approve Lower Employee Pay Raise While Increasing Its Own

FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Fort Pierre City Council has voted to a reduced pay raise for employees while increasing a raise for themselves. Cronin then suggested a 75-cent raise for employees while increasing the Council and Mayor’s pay to 600-dollars a year which did not find favor with Councilman Todd Bernhard…

After multiple amendments Cronin’s final motion was for 75-cents for employees and 300-dollars per year for the Council and Mayor, which Mayor Gloria Hanson called insulting to city employees…

The Council voted four-to-two to approve the Rick Cronin proposal. Hanson apologized to city staffers in attendance as two exited the meeting following the vote. Approving the 75-cent employee raise and 300-dollar Council raise were Rick Cronin, Larry Cronin, Greg Kenzy and Scott Deal. Voting against the lower raise and Council increase were Bernhard and Council member Callie Iverson.
