The Pierre Governor boys and girls would both get wins on Saturday over Rapid City Central with a 62-56 boys win and 56-38 for the girls as Pierre gets three of four wins between the two teams this weekend.
For the Governor girls, they pick up the 18 point win and do so as Lennix DuPris had 13 points for Pierre and Gracelyn Taylor finishing with nine as the Govs finish the weekend at 1-1 and get plenty of scoring going around after facing one of the top teams in the state on Friday night.
In the boys game, the Governors had to hang out to beat the Cobblers by six as Luke Olson hit nine free throws down the stretch to seal the second win of the weekend. Olson finished with 17 points to lead the Governors for the second straight day. Corde Austin had 14 points while Sawyer Sonnenschein and Dawson Getz each have nine for Pierre. Gilbert White Jr had 21 points to lead all scores for Rapid City Central.
Pierre will take on Sturgis and Spearfish this coming weekend. The boys will travel out west and the girls will host the Scoopers and Spartans on Friday and Saturday. The last two games of the 2024 calendar year for Pierre.
