The Oahe Capitals girls varsity team will have just one game this weekend, with a trip on Saturday to Brookings looking to stay undefeated on the early season.
Oahe outscored the Rushmore Thunder 13-2 in the two wins last weekend. But the challenge will get tougher on Saturday when the Brookings Rangers host the Capitals. Brookings is 2-2-0-1 on the season with a loss to Sioux Center along with a loss and overtime loss to Sioux Falls. The Rangers picked up a 5-2 win over Watertown on Sunday. Brookings, just like the Capitals, returned just about everybody from last year’s team and are led in scoring by Kenzy Grendler with five goals in five games to begin the season. For Oahe, 13 different skaters picked up at least a point in the first two games of the season, led by Brylee Kafka who had three goals and two assists. Ava Lavinger had four assists for the Caps. Both Sophia Peschong and Kylee Fromm had wins over the weekend.
Coverage on Saturday in Brookings begins at 1:25 with puck drop at 1:45 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
