Capitals Get another Big Test with Trip to Rapid City

The Oahe Capitals will be looking for its first win of the season on Saturday with a trip out west to face the 3-0 Rushmore Thunder.

The Capitals were shutout 6-0 on Saturday and lost 5-2 on Sunday both to Yankton. While Yankton will be a good team this year, the competition gets stiffer with the Rushmore Thunder who have scored 25 goals in three games while giving up seven. The Thunder finished in second place in the state tournament last year, falling in overtime to Brookings in the state championship. Wyatt Reeder, one of plenty of guys returning from last year’s team already has six goals and 15 total points in three games. Colton Merchen and Cameron Ritter also have five goals each. The high powered offense, along with Brookings, are poised to be in the top two in scoring this season. Landon Badger, head coach of the Oahe Capitals says Rushmore is a very good hockey team year in and year out…

Badger says they took a lot from the games over the past weekend moving into the second weekend of the year…

Badger says the biggest key is to keep the feet moving this weekend…

Coverage Saturday night will begin around 8:10 Central Time and puck drop at 8:30 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
