BELVIDERE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash in Jackson County. The crash happened Sunday afternoon just before 3:15 pm, 15 miles west of Kadoka near mile marker 135 on Interstate 90. According to information released by the Highway Patrol ,an 80 year-old Belvidere man was killed when his Dodge Ram pickup lost control in icy conditions and crossed the median into the westbound lanes of travel, striking two vehicles. The driver was taken to a Rapid City hospital where he passed away on Monday. The driver of a Freightliner Cascadia, a 36 year-old man from Edmonton, Alberta Canada was not injured. Two people were in the second vehicle, a 2024 Honda Civic. The 33 year-old male driver from Rapid City suffered minor injuries while an 11 year-old passenger, also from Rapid City suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family.
