Augustana Upset in Division II First Round Playoffs

The Minnesota State Mavericks would clip and upset the Augustana Vikings on Saturday in the first round of the Division II football playoffs in a 20-19 game in Sioux Falls.

A 34 yard field goal was hit by Matthew Jaeger as time expired as the Mavericks would pick up the win. It came after the Mavericks were able to recover an onside kick as Minnesota State scored 10 points in the final minute and a half of the game. Jarod Epperson had the only touchdown of the game for the Vikings as he would rush for 66 yards on 21 attempts. Hayden Ekern would finish with a 175 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Mavericks.

Onida native, Jett Lamb would finish with a solo tackle in the final game with the Vikings. Lamb finishes his senior season with 19 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Minnesota State will advance to face Colorado State Pueblo next week Saturday. Kickoff is at 2:00 CT
