PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man was arrested by police following an investigation regarding a sex offender living in a restricted area. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says the Department’s investigations division learned that a registered sex offender, identified by police as 40 year-old Archie Mack was not living where he was registered to live, at an address on South Brule Avenue. Detectives had determined Mack had not been staying there for an extended period of time, but was instead staying at an address in the 100 block of South Central Avenue. The South Central address is within a community safe zone. Officers located Mack at the South Central address on Tuesday and arrested him on charges of Failing to Provide Written Notice of a New Address and Residing in a Community Safe Zone. Mack was added to the sex offender registry following a 2005 federal conviction for sexual abuse of a minor.
