FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Fort Pierre City Council has followed the recommendation of the city’s Planning and Zoning Board and denied a right-of-way vacation request filed by two Fort Pierre landowners. Scott Schweitzer is one of the two landowners and says the issue has been discussed for years with no progress…
Planning and Zoning Board Chair Jaci Keller says Schweitzer and the other landowner Jess Wright gave them little information to work off of…
Wright says he’s waited eight years for the city to give him proof streets around his property are actually city roads…
Wright also expressed his frustration dealing with the city in the nearby area of Vinton Road that involved a lawsuit and Wright selling off property because he was unable to develop it because of city inaction regarding Vinton’s status as a city street or not. The Council’s decision to reject the right-of-way vacation was unanimous.
