PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Fort Thompson woman is arrested Saturday night for allegedly driving drunk with children in a vehicle. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were dispatched around eight-pm for a complaint of a swerving vehicle near the S-Curve in Pierre. The vehicle was traveling east on Wells and was reported to police as having run the stop light at Harrison Avenue. The vehicle was pulled over near Wells and Grant Avenue. Police identified the driver as 26 year-old Connor Voice. Voice had a nine-year-old child in the car at the time. As an officer spoke with Voice, the officer observed the odor of alcohol and began a field sobriety test. Voice was arrested and taken to the Hughes County Jail on a number of charges including Driving on No Valid License; First Offense D-U-I; Failure to Use Seat Belts; Failure to Use Seat Belts on Passengers between five and 18 years-old, Unsafe Lane Change; Open Container and Contributing to the Abuse or Neglect of a Child. The child was released to family members.
