Two weeks ago, the Pierre Governors would pick up a 35-15 win over the Spearfish Spartans in the final home game of the regular season. Now, the two teams meet back in Pierre tonight in the first round of the 11AA playoffs.
In 11AA it’s not uncommon to see an opponent a second time in the season when the playoffs begin. However, with just one game in between, there isn’t many new things that can be thrown into a scheme. The two teams will have the other scouted well and prepared well, with just a couple of extra wrinkles thrown in as the Governors and Spartans battle in the 4/5 game in the first round of the playoffs. Pierre finished the season winning three straight games going to 5-4 while the Spartans dropped the last two and finished at 6-3.
