The Pierre Governor football team would take care of business on Thursday night in the final game of the regular season with a 34-7 win over the Douglas Patriots.
Pierre fumbled the first possession of the game, but would score on the next five straight possessions to lead 34-0 at the half. Cooper Terwilliger, George Stalley, Carter Merrill and Lincoln Dilges would all score on receiving touchdowns from Kaleb Lounsbury who would go 18-24 for 275 yards and those four touchdowns. Keya Ducheneaux would get his first varsity touchdown. Stalley finished with seven catches for 131 yards. Elijah Boutchee blocked a punt on Douglas’ first possession as the Governor defense did not allow the Patriots a first down until the second half.
Pierre finishes the regular season at 5-4 and with the loss from Spearfish to Sturgis, the Governors will host the Spartans in the 4-5 game on Thursday, a rematch from Week 8. Game time is still to be determined, but will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
