PIERRE, (KCCR) — Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center and the Central South Dakota Child Assessment Center at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital are two of some 41 groups that will share five million dollars in Victim Grants. The Child Assessment Center has been granted 39-thousand 757 dollars while Missouri Shores is getting 99-thousand 540 dollars. Senate Bill 168 outlines the use of one-time funds for the grants. The grants are going to organizations that do not receive full funding from the Federal Victims of Crimes Act grant. The money is aimed at organizations that assist children who have been abused or neglected, are victims of domestic violence or are the victim of sexual abuse. The largest single award is going to Working Against Violence Incorporated with a grant of over 528-thousand dollars.
