The Pierre Governor boys and girls soccer teams would get three players in total across the All-State soccer teams as the Governor girls would get Aly Hutchinson on the first team with Gracelyn Taylor making Honorable Mention while Steven Blanchette would be on the second team All-State.
The Governors were two of the best defensive teams for either boys or girls soccer as the Governor girls would get six shutouts while the Governor boys had seven shutouts. Both goalies for Pierre were exceptionally all season, but they need the defense in front of them to make it happen. For the Governor girls, Hutchinson had been the last line of defense for the last couple of years and helped solidify the back line. Hutchinson did finish the season with a goal and an assist. Kira Swenson, head coach of the Pierre Governors says it’s nice to see the other coaches in the state take notice…
Taylor led the team in both goals and assists with nine goals and 11 assists. Taylor had the second most minutes of the season for Pierre who helped lead the team into the playoffs as the number three seed. Swenson says she also was a work horse for the last several years for the Governors…
Blanchette was another defensive minded player for the Governors as he received a second team spot for Class AA All-State. Blanchette played every second of the season and never once came off the field. He finished with a goal and two assists offensively for the Governors. Sean Blanchette, head coach of the Pierre Governor boys team says to stay on the field a lot has to go right including fitness, injury and yellow cards and Blanchette made that happen…
Blanchette says it’s hard to make an All-State team…
