The Stanley County Buffaloes would roll past the Potter County Battlers on Friday night with a 54-12 win on senior night which pushes the Buffaloes into the playoffs.
Colton Brady would open up the scoring in the first four minutes of the game. Brady would finish with four touchdowns including three in the first half as Stanley County opened up a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and led 42-12 at the half. Eddie Duffy would hit Paxton Deal with a 31 yard pass in the first quarter and Deal had a 23 yard run in the final seconds of the first for the Buffaloes. Weston Prince would get a deflected ball pick six late in the second quarter. Jhett Simon would catch a pass on fourth and 16 from Landon Larson for Potter County’s offensive touchdown. Jack Simon would return a botched kick from the front of the line to give the Battlers their second score. Noah Baldwin would cap off the game with a 30 yard rushing touchdown.
Stanley County finished tied with both Gregory and Bennett County in seed point averages. The Buffs lost to Gregory, but because it was a three-way tied, Stanley County had the best opponent seed point averages to finish in 16th place and make the playoffs. The Buffs will face top seed Parkston on Thursday. Stanley County and Parkston played in the second game of the season. Parkston beat Stanley County 52-16. Kickoff time is still to be determined.
