Governor Boys, Girls Win Cross Country Race in Huron

The Pierre Governor boys and girls teams would get first place as a team on Thursday in Huron in the final meet of the season while Emery Larson would notch another win individually for the girls.

The Governor boys had Caleb Morris place second as the highest Gov finisher with a time of 17:03, eight seconds behind Dane Stark of Watertown. Jayden Brandt finished in eighth and Tryton Parmely in 14th for the three Govs in the top 15. Jim Neddo was 24th, Ian Rounds 26th and Mason Daneil in 27th.

Larson would run a time of 19:14 to win the girls race by 37 seconds while Gwen Richter would finish seventh and Harper Shaffer ninth as three girls would place inside the top ten. Devyn Van Roekel was 13th, Charlee Williams-Smith was 14th, Mason Berg, 16, Elaina Rounds 17 and Jayne Lees 20th as eight of the nine runners would be top 20.
