The Pierre Governor soccer team played a near perfect game in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday defeating Spearfish 7-1. Saturday, the Govs go to the quarterfinals to face the Lincoln Patriots in the 2-7 contest.
The Lincoln Patriots would defeat Strugis 6-1 on Tuesday, but were tied 1-1 midway through the first half. Lincoln, at 12-1-1 is the number two seed and only loss has to been the number three seed in Jefferson with a tie to eighth seeded O’Gorman. Brady Stamp leads the team in goals and assists for the Patriots. Alex Oedekoven is coming off a four goal game where the Governors had everything go right and the confidence oozing from this team. The Governors have reached 10 wins to extend its most wins in a single season in program history since the sports has been sanctioned by the state. But Pierre isn’t satisfied yet, with two wins away from a state championship appearance.
