Pirates Sweep Sully Buttes in Highmore

The Sully Buttes Chargers once again played close, but it was Highmore Harrold that made the shots when it counted, and the Pirates would sweep the Chargers by scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-13 Tuesday night at Hyde County Auditorium in Highmore.

The Pirates used ball-controlled digging and passing to pull out the victory while Sully Buttes had too many unforced errors to overcome.  Each team had seven service errors in the match, an improvement over Monday night for the Chargers.

Payge Bakker and Madison Bradberry led the way in kills with eight and six respectively, while Addy McDonnell and Jada Baloun were kill leaders for the 8-12 Pirates.

The Chargers slip to 3-17 on the season and four games remaining; next Tuesday in Onida for the Chargers Dig For Pinks fundraiser against Stanley County, followed by a home contest against Herreid/Selby Area.  The Chargers finish the regular season on the road at Hitchcock Tulare and at Mobridge Pollock.

Highmore Harrold next takes to the court Thursday for a road contest against Wessington Springs. It was the Pirates’ Dig for Pinks breast cancer fundraiser, and the school raised $15,000 before the silent auction and freewill donation dinner was figured in to the total.
