The Pierre Governors went on the road to Watertown, the Arrows home course at the state tournament and finished just a stroke behind Watertown for the team state title on Tuesday.
Pierre trailed Watertown by five shots and had the lead midway through day two, but the Arrows were able to close the gap and win one of the tightest state golf tournaments. Pierre finished at six under par, 570 while Watertown was seven under par, 569. Harrisburg finished just a shot behind Pierre for third at five under par, 571.
Three Governors made the top ten as Nick Bothun was tied for fourth, Luke Olson tied for seventh and Lincoln Houska tied for tenth. Bothun was three under par, Olson two under par and Houska even par through the two day total. Sawyer Sonnenschein finished just one shot back of Houska at one over par for the tournament tying for 12th. Jack Bartlett was five over par in total as the five seniors finish their careers with the Governors. Tate Stoeser, in his first tournament was 19 over par finishing in the top 60 of nearly 110 golfers. Ty Lenards of Watertown would win in a playoff over Tea Area’s Derek Anderson to claim the AA individual title.
