The Pierre Governor golf team is in second place after the first day of the 2024 state golf tournament in Watertown with Nick Bothun also tied for second place.
Bothun is just three shots back of the clubhouse leader, Ty Lenards of Watertown as Bothun shot a three under par, 69 and is tied with two other individuals. Luke Olson is also in the top ten tied for ninth at an even par 72. Sawyer Sonnenschein and Jack Barlett finished the first day at one over par, 73 tying for 12th. Lincoln Houska is at three over par, 75 to start the second day while Tate Stoeser is at eight over par, 80.
The Governors have a three shot lead over third place Harrisburg, but trail Watertown by five shots. It’s certainly not insurmountable and a solid second day can flip the positions and the Govs can leave with the state championship.
Stoeser will tee off first at 9:50 this morning, followed by Houska at 10:00, Sonnenschein at 10:10, Bartlet at 10:20, Olson at 10:50 and Bothun at 11:00 playing in the top four of the tournament. The GGID is 24SDBOYSAA.
