Governors Start Strong but Fall to Brandon Valley

Coming off the two week break, the Pierre Governors had an excellent first set, but would fall in four sets to the Brandon Valley Lynx on the road on Saturday 25-19, 13-25, 9-25 and 16-25.

The Governors started out with a 6-0 lead in the opening set before the Lynx would score. Pierre would not trail in the first set as Jaycee Bauer had five kills for the Governors and the Lynx had eight hitting errors in the set. However, Kenndi Boomsma would come alive for Brandon Valley in the second set midway through to get the Lynx their first lead and would never trail the rest of the way as they end a four match losing to improve to 5-9. Boomsma would finish the second set with six kills and seven kills overall. Abby Gruber would lead all hitters with 17 kills while Jayaunna Stroh had 11 and Riya Sheley had 10. Bauer would finish with the Governor high nine kills while Ely Broers had six.

The now 5-6 Governors will travel to Huron on Tuesday to face the Tigers at Huron Arena. First serve will be at 7:00.
