O’Gorman Comes to Town as Governors Host 11AAA Opponent

As the season turns through the half way point, the Pierre Governors look to stop a three game losing streak against 11AAA O’Gorman tonight in Pierre.

The O’Gorman Knights are coming in at 1-4 on the season and have had its fair share of injuries. O’Gorman has had to use three different quarterbacks in the first three games of the year. It’s also the return of former Pierre Governor coach Jayson Poppinga, who won the first state championship with Pierre back in 2013. The Governors, at 2-3, want to get back to .500 and back on the winning track with three West River schools to close out the season starting next week. Pierre will be without star tight end Cooper Terwilliger after leaving the game with a shoulder injury in the first half against Yankton. Tucker Otte broke his leg in warmups last week and Hudson Shaffer is out with an injury as well. Steve Steele, head coach of the Governors says it has been difficult to lose all these guys to injury…

Steele says this O’Gorman defense flies around the ball…

Steele says big plays will be key tonight for Pierre…

Coverage tonight begins at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
