Governors Finish Regular Season with Rescheduled Brookings Match

It was supposed to be the second game of the season, but now is the final game of the regular season as the Pierre Governors host the Brookings Bobcats.

Back on August 17, the two teams were scheduled to meet on the Saturday, but the Bobcats didn’t stop in Pierre after playing in Spearfish the night before. At 9-3-1, a win keeps them in the top four of the standings which guarantees them two home playoff games. Brookings, at 4-8-1, are trying to hang on to a playoff spot in 16th place.

The Governor boys will trying for its ninth win of the year. Pierre is 8-3-2 and a win will for sure keep them at home in the first round of the playoffs next week Tuesday, but a win sends the Govs into the playoffs going 5-1-1 in the last seven games. Brookings, at 5-6-2, is in 13th place and wants to try and move up a spot before the end of the season for a more favorable first round matchup.

Both varsity teams will kickoff at the same time, at 5:00 at the PILC Fields in Pierre. The playoffs begin on Tuesday next week.
