Sawyer Sonnenschein and the Pierre Governors will win both the individual and team ESD golf title Monday in Aberdeen.
Sonnenschein would shoot a two over par, 74 to win the ESD by a shot over Tea Area’s Derek Anderson. Sonnenschein would birdie holes nine, 11 and 15 on his way to victory. Nick Bothun, who tied for fourth, Jack Bartlett who tied for sixth and Luke Olson who tied for ninth completed the four golfers to be inside the top ten for Pierre. Bothun would be five over par, 77 while Bartlett was six over par, 78 and Olson at nine over par, 81. Lincoln Houska would shoot an 83 and Tate Stoeser an 89 as Houska finished tied for 15th and Stoeser inside the top 40.
In the team score, the Governors cruised to a 12 stroke win over second place Harrisburg with a 22 over pa to the Tigers 34 over par. Brandon Valley finished in third and Watertown in fourth.
The Governors will take the momentum to the state tournament which will be next Monday and Tuesday at the Cattail Golf Course in Watertown.
