PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man is arrested Friday after a confrontation with police. Pierre police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were dispatched around midnight to the 100 block of Orion Avenue for an intoxicated subject waking around in a residence. Upon arrival, officers located the subject, identified by police as 42 year-old Arnold Provancial, Jr. sitting behind a shed. Responding officers ask Provancial to move to a patrol vehicle as they tried to find a way for Provancial to get home. That’s when, according to Pelle, Provancial stood up and took a fighting stance with an officer. Provancial then advanced toward the officer in an aggressive manner. Officers told Provancial to stop, but he continued causing an officer to deploy a Taser. Following the Taser deployment Provancial was taken into custody. He was medically cleared following the Taser deployment and taken to the Hughes County Jail on charges of Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer, Simple Assault Against Law Enforcement, Ingestion of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
