The Pierre Governor soccer teams would host the Brandon Valley Lynx on Saturday on Senior day and the Govs would pick up two wins, 5-3 in the girls game and 2-1 in the boys game.
Gracelyn Taylor would start the day off scoring early on in the first half, but Jasmine Jost would score just moments later to get the Govs up 2-0 quickly with a give and go with Natalie Flottmeyer. Flottmeyer would make it 3-1 for Pierre late in the first half after a mad scramble in front of the net resulted in the ball trickly right over to Flottmeyer who beat the keeper. After the Lynx pulled within one at 3-2, Lexie Hillmer would make it 4-2 and then finish off the match with a goal to make it 5-3 and seal the win for the Governors to improve to 7-2 on the season.
The Governor boys would pick up a 2-1 shortened game with the storm fast approaching. Caleb Morris would get the Govs the lead in the first half off a free kick. The Govs would add a second goal and as Brandon Valley made it 2-1, the storm came in resulting in the game being called early, but because it was far enough along, it does count for Pierre to pick up a win. It improves the Governors to 6-2-1 on the season.
Pierre will be off until Saturday when they travel out to Tea. The boys play first at 12:00 and the girls at 2:00.
