The Pierre Governor volleyball team would pick up a win Friday night in five sets over Sturgis, but would be swept by Spearfish on Saturday as the four match win streak comes to an end.
The Governors would have to come back from a 1-0 and 2-1 set deficits on Friday night in Sturgis. Scores of the match were 23-25, 25-13, 21-25, 25-13 and 15-7. It extended the Governors winning streak to four in its second straight five set win.
However, fatigue would take issue on Saturday. The Governors fell to Spearfish 26-24, 25-10 and 25-17 in a three set sweep with the Spartans extending its winning streak to eight in a row. Spearfish won in four sets on Friday and Saturday morning over Aberdeen Central after the game was postponed midway in set number two. Addison Keller and Avery Kirk had the match high eight kills for Spearfish while the Governors were led in kills by Campbell Cronin with seven who also had five block points on the afternoon.
