The Stanley County Lady Buffaloes were in a dog fight on Thursday night, but prevailed in five sets over the Philip Lady Scotties for Stanley County’s first win over Philip in over 15 years.
Scores of the match were 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 27-29 and 15-10. It was a big bounce back fifth set for the Lady Buffaloes who nearly had the match won in the fourth set and lost in extra points. Philip would take a 8-6 lead in the fifth set, but it was then all Lady Buffs afterwards scoring nine of the next 11 points to take the win. Stanley County improves to 4-2 on the season and will now travel to Edmunds Central High School as North Central will host a tournament. Philip drops to 1-3 on the season and will host a tournament on Saturday.
The North Central tournament gets underway at 12:00 on Saturday for the Lady Buffs who will start with Ipswich.
