The Pierre Governor football team will be at home for the first time this season as they host the Huron Tigers tonight looking to get to a 2-0 start.
The Governors were 20-14 winners over Aberdeen Central on Saturday while the Tigers lost to Yankton Bucks last Friday 60-0. The Tigers are returning just five players with varsity experience from last year’s team. Pierre, though, isn’t concerned with how the Tigers played in game one or those that are or aren’t returning. Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors, says the Governors have to be more physical and mentally better this week…
George Stalley and Ty Mikel both went down with injuries in week one. Stalley returned, but Mikel will be out again this week. Steele says though the guys who filled those roles were big in Saturday’s win and will be used again tonight…
Steele says physicality is the most important piece tonight…
Coverage tonight will begin at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 from Hollister Field on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
