The Pierre Governor soccer teams will be back on the home pitch at the PILC Fields hosting the Spearfish Spartans on Saturday.
The Governors will get some much needed rest from Wednesday through Friday after playing four games in six days. Now, the Governors turn the attention to Spearfish for a boys and girls doubleheader. The Governor girls, who are in the top three of the standings at 5-1 will face the Spartans who are 2-2-2, but have not played since last Saturday in a 3-0 loss to Roosevelt. The Roughriders are one of two common opponents but the Govs beat Roosevelt 2-1. Both squads knocked off Watertown already this season. Spearfish is sitting in 11th place in the AA standings.
On the boys side, Pierre will be looking to get right back in the win column facing a team who is 1-4-1 falling to Roosevelt 3-2 last Saturday. Of the six games, Spearfish has faced just two teams under .500 but are still in 17th in the standings. Pierre, at 3-2-1, are in eighth place and looking to stay inside the top eight to host a first round playoff game which is just around a month away.
The Governor girls will play first at 11:00 with the boys game to follow at 1:00 from the PILC Fields in Pierre.
