The Pierre Governor golf team would place second for a second straight outing, but Sawyer Sonnenschein would win his third straight individual title on Tuesday in Aberdeen.
Sonnenschein was the only golfer below par on Tuesday reaching a three under, 68 to comfortably win by four strokes over Ty Lenards and Jaden Solheim of Watertown. Lincoln Houska would finish a shot outside the top five in sixth place at four over par, 75. Jack Bartlett would tie for seventh at six over par, 77 while Luke Olson and Nick Bothun each tied for tenth at seven over par, 78. Tate Stoeser would round out the Governors six competitors inside the top 25 with an 85 overall.
Pierre would finish with a 298, 14 over par, just four shots behind Watertown for the team win. However, the Governors and Arrows were a two horse race to the team win with third place Aberdeen Roncalli being 25 shots back of the Governors for second. The Arrows had two tie for second, another in fourth and then the fourth golfer was tied for seventh to win the day as a team.
The Governor golf team will now be off until Friday, September 13 when they travel to Yankton at Hilcrest Golf Course.
