Governor Girls with Shutout Win, Boys Drop Close One in Watertown

The Pierre Governor soccer teams traveled up to Watertown on Tuesday to face the Arrows as the Governor girls would get a shutout win and the boys dropping a one goal decision.

Pierre boys would fall to 2-1 to one of the best teams in the state. Watertown stays unbeaten with the win at 6-0-1 and won for the third time with a 2-1 score. The Governors, who drop to 3-2-1, have dropped just one goal games in its two losses, but still sit in the top eight after Tuesday’s games.

The Governor girls would get a shutout from Emlyn Swanson. It’s her second of the season as the Governors improve to 5-1 overall to begin the year. Watertown drops to 2-5, but the Governors are sitting in third place in the AA standings. Only Stevens and Harrisburg are ahead of the Governors who are both undefeated.

Pierre will be back at home on Saturday for a matinee as they take on the Spearfish Spartans. Kickoff of the girls game will be at 11:00 and the boys game will follow at 1:00 at the PILC Fields in Pierre.
