Avera Health Sees Record-Setting Fundraising In 2024

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Avera Health has set a new record for fundraising in fiscal year 2024. The regional health system raised more than 53 million dollars. Over 28-thousand 800 benefactors donated over 31-thousand gifts that included gives from over 8300 employees and 4600 new donors. Nearly four-thousand donors have given to Avera for five or more consecutive years. The donations have helped Avera with projects like a new obstetrical surgical suite at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre which is designed to enhance the labor ad delivery process. The Avera Race Against Cancer in May was also a record-setting event, with $725,000 raised and 6,700 participants. The annual race has raised a total of $11 million for the past 36 years. The Avera Foundation has been recognized by the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy with the High Performer distinction for five years. Gifts to Avera have helped with an updated new women’s center and behavioral health unit in Aberdeen; an expansion at Avera McKennen in Sioux Falls and renovations to Avera Brady Health in Mitchell.
