Soccer to Host First Ever Game at Hollister Field

For the first time since the South Dakota High School Activities Association sanctioned soccer, the Pierre Governors will be playing a game on the football field at Hollister Field at Phil Trautner Stadium on Thursday.

This is what is hoping to start a tradition of at least one game played on the football field at the stadium every year and the potential to add more games at the field. Brian Moser, athletic director at Pierre has been wanting to do this and has been able to make this possible. Having Sturgis as its opponent for the first game makes sense as well with the Scoopers also playing their home games on the grass football field. The biggest challenge to have it play at Pierre is the crown of the football field. The games will start one hour later than usually when played at the PILC fields because the use of the lights will allow the games to be played even after sunset, where the PILC fields don’t have lights.

The Pierre boys will play the first game at 5:00 with the girls game to follow at 7:00 at Hollister Field. The JV games with the boys starting at 3:30 and the girls to play at 5:00 will be at the PILC fields.
