The Hill City Rangers would make a statement in the first game of the season on Friday night as they would beat the Stanley County Buffaloes 48-6.
The Rangers would build a 35-0 lead at halftime enabling the running clock all second half. Stanley County had to deal with several injuries in the game including quarterback Paxton Deal. Eddie Duffy replaced Deal early in the second quarter.
Devin Buehler had a one yard quarterback keeper with four minutes remaining in the first quarter to get the Rangers in the lead 7-0 at the end of one. Buehler added on to the lead early in the second with a 55 yard touchdown scamper and added two more touchdown runs before throwing a quick pass to Grayson Rahn to make it 35-0 for the Rangers. Colton Brady had a near 90 yard run for the Buffaloes only score midway in the fourth quarter.
Stanley County will take on the Parkston Trojans who is ranked number one in the 9AA polls and beat Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 42-14. Kickoff from Parkston is at 7:00 on Friday.
