Sanderson Announces Commitment to UND

Former Oahe Capital and current Muskegon Lumberjack, Carter Sanderson would announce last Friday his commitment to play hockey at the University of North Dakota.

North Dakota Fighting Hawks is one of the most storied programs in the country with eight national championships, its latest in 2016. UND has made 22 appearances overall in the Frozen Four and 30 National Tournament appearances. Sanderson says its been a dream to play for UND for many years now…

While only entering his junior year of high school, Sanderson says its common for hockey players to commit to schools around this time…

Sanderson played his eighth grader year on the Oahe Capitals varsity team finishing with 26 goals and 39 points in 20 games before heading to Northstar Christian Academy his freshman year of high school finishing with 35 points in 55 games. Last year, Sanderson played with the Sioux Falls Power leading the team 73 points including 36 goals and 37 assists while also scoring two goals and having an assist in the USA Hockey National Tournament. Now, Sanderson will head to Muskegon to play in the USHL for a couple of years before heading to North Dakota. Sanderson says it will be a great step in Muskegon this year…

Sanderson is planning to study biology at North Dakota.
