Gray Steps Down as Pierre Governor Baseball Coach

For the first time in its history, the Pierre Governor baseball team will have a head coach other than Steve Gray. Gray is stepping down as head coach, but will still work behind the scenes for the Governors. Scott Raue will take over as head coach.

Gray has been the only head coach since Pierre started a high school baseball team and the team has had a lot of success under his tutelage. The Governors have been to six final fours including several championship games and of course the state championship won in 2023. Gray says, he knew it was time to step back…

Gray says it’s about building relationships with the players and he’s been fortunate to have some great players over his time as coach…

While he won’t be the head coach, Gray will continue to help build the schedule, line up fundraisers and take of the financial side. Gray says it takes a lot of people and he will continue to help…

Gray says he’s very appreciative of the community support on and off the field of the high school baseball team…

Gray finishes just shy of 200 wins as the Governor head coach at 182-72 with the state championship.
