The Spearfish Sasquatch and Oahe Zap played more of a football game than baseball game on both Friday and Saturday as the Sasquatch would win both games 21-10 over Oahe.
Spearfish’s biggest inning of the weekend came on Friday night when they went from a 1-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth to leading 14-0 at the end of the half inning scoring 13 runs as five of those first 14 runs were unearned. Oahe busted out an eight run eighth inning on Friday which pulled the Zap within 17-10, but Spearfish tacked on four more in the ninth. In Friday’s game Mason Lang would hit a homer and have four RBIs going 4-4. Leandro Guevara would have another three RBIs for the Zap.
Then on Saturday, Oahe led 1-0 after the first and 2-0 after the top of the second in Spearfish, but the Sasquatch would score in every inning from the second on including a six run seventh to score another 21 runs as they had 22 hits. Oahe had 10 runs on 17 hits but committed five errors as eight runs were unearned in the loss. Garren Gladhill had the team leading three RBI as Lang again had four hits including a triple and double as he went 8-10 in the two games this weekend. Jackson Mix had three hits and Guevra had two RBIs to lead the team. In total, 11 pitchers were used between the two teams in the high scoring affair after nine were used on Friday.
The Zap are now 9-9 in the second half of the season and begin its final home stand of the season on Monday. Oahe plays Hastings three times before hosting Fremont on Thursday for a single game in the final home game. Overall, there is just seven games left in the season.
