Pierre Little League Eliminated Friday in State Tournament

The Pierre Little League wouldn’t be able to stop the Sioux Falls Little League on Friday night in the first elimination game of the tournament as Pierre would fall 16-0 going 0-2 in the state tournament.

Sioux Falls went off and running in the first inning scoring eight times before scoring another eight runs in the second to win in just three innings. Sioux Falls would hit four home runs in total, two in the first and two in the second as they had 11 hits and seven went for extra bases. Pierre didn’t record a hit in the three innings but Jax Newcomer, John Boes and Griffin Freeman all had walks. Carter Dokken, Newcomer and Connor Peschong all pitched in the game.

Overall Pierre went 1-3 as the little league all-star team for 2024 once again making it to the state tournament. Sioux Falls would beat Canyon Lake on Saturday, who beat them in the first round and then beat Rapid City twice on Sunday to win the state championship. Sioux Falls will represent South Dakota at the Midwest Regional Tournament in Whitestown, Indiana, August 2-9.
