Sioux Falls West would take advantage of errors and walks in a doubleheader sweep of Pierre Post 8 on Tuesday with the Eights falling 5-1 in game one and 11-8 in game two in Sioux Falls.
West would reach base with a two out error in the bottom of the second to lead off the inning in game one. Post 15 would get four two out hits to go up 4-0, all four runs being unearned against JJ Bucholz. Adler Jensen who had one of the four RBIs in the second inning would make it 5-0 with a two out double in the bottom of the fifth. Nolan Petersen would score the Eights only run after leading off the seventh with a single and would wind up scoring on a wild pitch with two outs in the inning. Bucholz would be tagged with the loss going five innings giving up six hits, one earned run with six walks and three strikeouts. Carter Scheifelbein had two of the five hits for Pierre.
In game two, Miles Doyle would single home Petersen in the first inning as the Eights would lead 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second. But it would be six walks in the second along with two hits and an error as West would score seven runs highlighted by a three run triple by Jaxon DeHann. Pierre would get a run back to make it 7-2 in the third and a three run fourth inning with RBIs from Sutton Sonnenschein and Grayson Hunsley made it 8-5. But every time Pierre would score, West would answer and eventually led 11-6 heading into the top of the seventh. Scheifelbein would get an RBI single and another run would score on a two out error and the tying run was on at first, but a strikeout ended the ballgame and West picking up two big wins over Pierre. Petersen would have three of the Eights nine hits while Hunsley and Doyle each had two. Trevor Rounds would get the loss on the mound going two innings surrendering seven runs, two earned on two hits, eight walks and three strikeouts. Brayden Houlette would pitch in both games and combined to go five innings allowing eight hits, four runs, three earned with three walks and a strikeout.
