Tonight, the Eights will be back at home for the first time in over two weeks as Pierre will host the Aberdeen Smittys on Hometown Hero Night.
The Eights will be looking to stop a four game skid, going 0-4 at the Dakota Classic this past weekend. Aberdeen, on the other side went 2-2 at the Dakota Classic and are 20-5 on the season. The Smittys played Brookings last night with a doubleheader sweep and are 8-3 in South Dakota games. Aberdeen is a state tournament team from last year and has the goal of getting back to the tournament again this year.
Pierre is playing its lone South Dakota games of the week before heading up to Minot this weekend for a second tournament in as many weekends. The Eights are 1-6 in South Dakota games and currently are on the outside looking in but still have a month left in the season.
Between games Post 8 will honor its Hometown Hero. The Eights will honor the Lawn Chair Gang for their generous donations over the last five years as a group and tremendous support for many years. The ceremony will take place between games one and two.
Coverage of the doubleheader begins tonight at 4:45 with first pitch at 5:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
