Pierre Post 8 will travel out east this weekend to the Sioux Falls area as the Eights will be in the Harrisburg Pool facing three out of state teams and then Harrisburg on Saturday.
Pierre will open the weekend against Fort Calhoun, Nebraska tonight. It’s the final game of day one as Pierre will have single games on Friday and Sunday and a doubleheader on Saturday. Fort Calhoun Post 348 is coming into the weekend at 6-9 having dropped three in a row.
Saturday, Pierre faces Harrisburg Gold, the most important game of the weekend as the result will end up in the standings at the end of the season. Harrisburg is 9-4 on the season and will face West Fargo and Bennington on Friday before taking on Pierre to open up the day on Saturday. Harrisburg is 6-0 against South Dakota opponents heading into Saturday’s game.
Pierre then will face West Fargo has not had many games but are 0-5 to start the season having been swept on Monday to the Fargo Jets.
The Eights will finish the weekend on Sunday against Bennington, Nebraska who is over the .500 mark with a win on Tuesday and a loss on Wednesday to be 10-7 heading into the weekend. If the Eights win the pool, they will face the Augustana Pool winner Sunday night at the Sports Complex in Sioux Falls in the quarterfinals at 5:00.
Coverage will start at 6:15 tonight against Fort Calhoun with coverage starting at 10:15 on Saturday against Harrisburg and Wesst Fargo and then at 12:45 on Sunday against Bennington. All four games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
