The Sioux Falls Canaries broke a 7-7 tie in the top of the tenth on Tuesday to beat the Kansas City Monarchs 11-7 to even the three game series.
Spencer Sarringar, who went 2-5 in the win, was the automatic runner to start the inning on at second and would score the go-ahead and winning run. The Canaries would do their damage in the middle innings with a run in the third, two in the fourth and another four runs in the fifth as Sarringar drove in the seventh run of the game which at the time made it a 7-3 lead for Sioux Falls. Kansas City would add runs in the bottom of the fourth and in the seventh to tie the game sending into extras. Liam Spence went 3-4 and Josh Rehwaldt would finish 2-6 with four RBIs including a three run homer. All but one guy in the lineup would record a hit for Sioux Falls in the win. Dylan Chalmers would get a four inning relief win pitching through the ninth allowing six hits, two runs on a walk and a strikeout.
Sioux Falls improves to 18-10 on the season and are back tied for first place in the West Division. The rubber match of the three game set is scheduled for a 4:00 first pitch in Kansas City.
